How the work reaches students
Progression, access, and what arrives too late.
The committee’s questions are about what a student can do next: enter, continue, change direction, and still have time to use what a course taught.

Progression through the studios
The advised order is IMDM290, IMDM390, then the two Capstone semesters. Registration allows Capstone to start after IMDM290. Because 390 is spring-only and 490 is fall-only, Studio II often lands beside Capstone II.
Why this matters for students. The senior project is defined in IMDM490 and shown in IMDM491. A studio taken in that same last semester cannot prepare the project it accompanies.

Transfer and off-cycle entry
IMDM227 and IMDM290 are offered once a year on the current plans. Missing the semester, or arriving after it, does not only delay that course.
Why this matters for students. The delay reaches every later requirement that waits on the gateway, including time to degree. The proposal starts with IMDM227, then watches whether IMDM290 becomes the next bottleneck.

Where the published major already breaks
Known gaps separate an ordinary four-year path from routes the rules still allow: prior credit, a missed spring, 86 credits before the advised semester of IMDM390, a late change of direction, and advanced work that depends on a special topic or a permission seat.
Why this matters for students. Advising can make a path real for one student and leave it invisible to another. Under the definition, a path that depends on private knowledge is still a cluster.

Preparation for Capstone and for a body of work
Portfolio review is explicit early and again at exhibition. Professional practice is concentrated in Capstone. The two tracks reach shared studios through different prerequisite doors.
Why this matters for students. A shared studio that assumes only one of those preparations is ahead of the other track. Capstone then has to supply what the sequence did not hand off.
